Configuring Budgets & Alerts in Microsoft Azure

Setting billing alerts is the very first thing you should do when you’re ready to start building your resources in Microsoft Azure. Whether you are doing labs or you’re an administrator for a company, creating billing alerts are crucial when avoiding accidental charges to the account.
What charges could apply? Virtual machines, NAT gateways, Databases, pretty much any resource that runs and transmits data back and forth, and if there are no alerts set for these resources, expect a surprise of a lofty bill on your account.
So, let’s get started!

In your dashboard, go to the top where the search bar is located and type, “billing”. This search will bring up multiple services, but the one you want to click on is “Cost Management + Billing”.

BOOM! Once we click “Cost Management + Billing”, we are presented with the Billing Scopes page. What we want to do is go to the “Cost Management” tab on the left and click that.
