How I Am Leveraging my Network Engineering Skills to Learn and Get Certified in Fortinet. From Cisco to Fortinet Engineer!

Since 2020, I’ve been working with Cisco gear, from Routers and Switches. In August of 2023, while I was a network technician working in a mainly Cisco infrastructure, I got certified in the CCNA. This was a great accomplishment on top of the experience I have already gained in the networking world. I can finally work towards becoming that Cisco Network Engineer!

However, there were a sharp turn of events on the current project, and many people were being laid off, and a hard stop paused the project. Before the project was put on pause, I was looking for other networking positions, and one being a Fortinet partner.

I went through an interview process, and I did good being that it was for a Jr Network Engineer role. I put my 2 weeks in at my current position that was about to end, and I was able to smoothly transition into my first network engineer role, working mainly on Fortigates and all things Fortinet…the only problem was…I never touched anything related to Fortinet LOL!
